Lent is a period of forty days leading up to Easter. It’s one of the most important times of the year for many Christians around the world. The Lenten Season begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Saturday (the day before Easter Sunday). The Sundays in between are not counted as they are considered days of celebration.
All Fridays during Lent are days of abstinence including Good Friday, the day on which Christ was crucified. Although it is not required or governed by any religious laws or rules, all days in Lent are appropriate for fasting or abstaining. Fasting or abstinence is voluntary.
